State of Play

We believe well-maintained public spaces play a vital role in bringing communities together and creating opportunities for young people. State of Play, launched in 2024, is the Pacers Foundation’s effort to refurbish and renovate basketball courts across Indiana. The grant program provides up to $100,000 per project for capital improvements, transforming underused or worn-down courts into vibrant community hubs.

State of Play is more than building courts. It’s about creating safe, high-quality spaces where youth can play, connect, and grow. Each renovated court promotes healthy lifestyles, strengthens neighborhood bonds, and builds community pride.

This is a court, thanks in large part to the Pacers and Simon family, that says to our community that you can have a court that’s good enough, or you can have a court that’s worthy of our people – worthy of the people that surround this place. Worthy of this city.
